Building/Equipment Use Policy
MORGAN COUNTY LIBRARY BUILDING / EQUIPMENT USE POLICY
This Building Use Policy was developed under the direction of the Morgan County Library Board and was discussed and adopted in an open meeting. This policy will be reviewed by the library board on an as needed basis.
Policies for use of the library facilities will be regulated by the Morgan County Library Board.
All library functions take priority. Areas of the library will be made available after all library programming needs have been met.
The Community Meeting Room and Kiva in the children’s area is available without charge for community, civic or governmental groups. No fees may be charged for attendance and no display or sale of products will be allowed, with the exception of invited guest authors or at the discretion of the librarian.
Private social gatherings will not be permitted.
A request for use of the building must be made and approved by library staff before an event will be scheduled. The building will be available during current library operating hours only. No keys to the building will be made available to anyone attending meetings.
Groups using the building will be held responsible for library items damaged or stolen while they were using library facilities. A refundable cleaning deposit may be required at the discretion of the library director. Users will be required to leave the building clean and in its original order.
Use of the building does not constitute endorsement by the county on points of view or subject matter presented by groups using the facility. No advertisement or announcement implying such endorsement will be permitted.
The county is not responsible for loss or damage to materials belonging to individuals or groups using the building.
Library staff reserves the right to deny permission to use the building to any group whose purposes or actions are illegal or whose conduct interferes with the activities of the library.
Pets or other animals will not be permitted in the library, with the exception of service animals. Service animals are defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act as: “Any guide dog, signal dog, or other animal individually trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability.”
Pets or other animals are not to be tied, chained or otherwise confined to or on the sidewalk, entrance areas, light poles, bike racks, or the building structure unless doing so is part of a library sponsored event.
